Here are some examples of the some of the alphas that come in this pack to give you an idea of the type of cracks you can get. Most of these alphas are height maps extracted from a 2D image so they have additional surface noise that gives you that ‘porosity’ of the rock surface, but if you want something more stylized, you can smooth the details out after applying the alpha or apply a ‘clay polish’ pass in ZBrush.
Since the resources of this pack are simply alphas, you can use them with any brush stroke. However, for best results try to stick to the DragRect alpha in ZBrush or the DragStamp (in ZBrush 2024). These type of strokes will give you a more consitent result and you can also have control over the ZIntensity for harsher or more subtle details. These examples below are just to show you the complexity you can achieve with a single alpha and changing only the rotation of the alpha:
With this pack of brushes for ZBrush, you get:
The additional 9 bonus brushes are brushes that use some of the alphas in the pack but can be applied like any other sculpting brush. These are ideal brushes to create quick rock patterns or to add a bit of surface noise to any rock element.
These bonus brushes are similar to the custom sculpting brushes you’ll find in a pack like the Advanced Rock brushes pack.
